Experience Points, or EXP for short, are the points used to gain Pokemon levels. You can earn these from battling with your Pokemon. To get experience you count your words in each battle post. Each word counts as one experience point. Once you level up, be sure to count the rest of your EXP you have left over, it helps to keep them in your Trainer Card, or PC Box, or signature, or something. To evolve your Pokemon you need to reach the numbers above, If your Pokemon evolve via an evolution stone, you need to buy it in the shop. To evolve Pokemon via friendship you need to buy a Soothe Bell from the Shop, put it on your Pokemon and play with said Pokemon in at least five threads. To evolve a Pokemon through a trade, you must actually trade your Pokemon with another player, they may end up running off with your Pokemon so only trade with those you trust.

Pokemon evolve at their natural level as they would in the series or game. After they gain enough experience to reach the pre-determined level to evolve you must update your profile with the information. You can choose to either evolve them in your threads, battles, or just in your profile.

If you lose a battle you only gain one third of those experience points, if you win you receive all, if you catch the Pokemon the EXP is split between the two (half/half). When in a battle with more than two Pokemon (not switching) both Pokemon get full experience. If a Pokemon is switched out from a battle they get a fourth of the experience. Each Pokemon counts as their own set of experience points (for example, if you are fighting two you count the words (aka exp) twice.) You can only gain experience points after the battle at the end of the thread.
