ENCOUNTERING POKEMON[/b] dice=20
The most important thing to know about any Pokemon game. Thankfully encountering a Wild Pokemon is fairly simple. There's only a few simple tasks you need to do:
- Create a thread. No matter where you post, as long as Wild Pokemon can be found there, they will show up. However, only staff are allowed to post a Wild Pokemon Encounter.
- Be patient. Patience is key to any successful game.
That was easy enough wasn't it? Now before you start complaining let me explain how exactly staff will decide what Wild Pokemon shows up (or if you will have an encounter at all).
- First they must roll the dice 1-3. If it lands on 2 you get to encounter a Wild Pokemon.
- Second, they roll the dice 1-10 to determine its rarity. 1-5 lands a common, 6-9 lands an uncommon, 10 lands a rare.
- Third, they roll the dice from 1 to however many Wild Pokemon of that rarity can be found in that area.
- Fourth, they roll the dice (again!) from the min to max levels to determine what level the Wild Pokemon you are encountering is.
- Fifth, they must roll the dice one final time 1-2 to determine its gender. 1 lands a male while 2 lands a female.
- Sixth, they suit it up with whatever moves are appropriate for its level, give it a nature and throw them at you! (no not literally)
- And Finally, they list the moves the Pokemon will be using each turn during the battle.
Of course, the rarer the Pokemon the less likely you are to run into one. Don't complain if you don't get the Pokemon you want right away, just keep trying. Oh yes, and one more thing to mention;
- Sweet scent has the chance to attract multiple Wild Pokemon in one Wild Pokemon Encounter. If used staff must roll the dice 1-4 to determine just how many Wild Pokemon you will be encountering at the same time. So please be careful when using it!
CAPTURING POKEMON
This system is pretty simple. When fighting a Wild Pokemon you have the option of either capturing it or defeating it. If you decide to capture it then you must do/have the following:
- Own a Pokeball of some sort.
- Weaken the Pokemon enough to successfully capture it.
- Throw your Pokeball at the Pokemon.
- Pray you catch it on your first shot.
Generally the weaker the Pokemon, the easier it is to catch but you can still catch a Pokemon without harming it. Here it the method of figuring out if you capture the Pokemon or not:
- On the same post your throw your Pokeball you will also roll the dice and guess a number.
- For each attack you land on the Pokemon the numbers are reduced by 4 (starting at 20). You may only attack a Pokemon 5 times before you MUST throw the ball. After the 6th attack the Pokemon will faint. You may only guess one number. If the dice count reduces to 0 instead of dice=0 put dice=1 (its an automatic catch).
- If you guess the correct number, then you have successfully captured the Pokemon and didn't have to waste any of your hard earned Pokeballs! yay!
- If you guess the wrong number then you must throw another Pokeball to try and capture it again.
- If you are battling more than one Wild Pokemon at a time, you may throw one Pokeball at each Pokemon per turn. Each Pokeball thrown needs its own number guess and dice roll.
STEALING POKEMON
Now here comes the fun part, stealing Pokemon. Yes, that means stealing another Trainer's Pokemon. In order to do this you must do/have the following:
- Own a Shadowball.
- Be prepared for both the Pokemon and Trainer to hate you.
- Weaken the Pokemon enough to successfully capture it.
- Throw your Shadowball at the Pokemon.
- Pray you catch it on your first shot.
Stealing a Trainer's Pokemon is a lot harder than capturing a Wild Pokemon, but can still be done. The method is almost the same, but not quite. There is of course other ways to steal Pokemon, but it requires you to be extremely sneaky and skillful.
- On the same post you throw your Shadowball you will also roll the dice three times and guess five numbers.
- For each attack you land on the Pokemon the numbers are reduced by 2 (starting at 20). You may only attack a Pokemon 5 times before you MUST throw the ball. After the 6th attack, the Pokemon can no longer be stolen.
- If three of the five numbers you guess are correct, then you have successfully stolen the Pokemon!
- If not, then you must use another Shadowball to try it again.
- If you are battling more than one Trainer Pokemon at a time, you may throw one Shadowball at each Pokemon per turn. Each Shadowball thrown needs its own five number guesses and three dice rolls.
Stealing is not just limited to Pokemon, you can steal anything at all. To steal non-Pokemon you must roll the dice(max 5) and guess a number, if you get it right you've successfully stolen whatever it is you are trying to steal.
- You can steal the Pokemon's original Pokeball, this method does not require the use of a Shadowball and is much cheaper. All you need to do is keep the Trainer distracted long enough for you to take their Pokeball(s) and run. Depending on how it is role played out you can either steal the Pokemon or be caught.
- Another way is to stalk a trainer as they weaken a wild Pokemon and throw a Pokeball at it (and successfully catch it) before they get a chance to. Basically, they do all the work and you run in to claim the prize.
- Physically steal the Pokemon, pick it up and run! Of course, these Pokemon will not be able to return to a Pokeball unless you later manage to steal it. Its often best to cage up Pokemon caught this way, otherwise they might try to run away from you.
- Challenge the trainer, either to a fight, a riddle, or a game. The winner wins the Pokemon, simple as that. Of course, the opponent might change the rules a bit, making it if the challenger loses they owe them something instead.
