RPing stands for Role Playing. RPing is where you create a character and then Role Play, having your character interact with others.
STEPS
1. Read the Rules & Plot. It is very important to read and fully understand the site's rules and plots before you begin your RP experience. While you are reading think about these things;
- What is the plot/back-story and how will it effect my character(s)?
- What about the story/rules must I remember when I'm making my character(s)?
- Is there any limitations or requirements? If so, what?
2. Create your character. Character requirements will vary between sites, however the basics can be applied anywhere;
- Detailed Character Bio. If there is anything that can be elaborated on, do it.
- Believable character. Mary Sue & Gary Stu are very realistic, so don't make your character 'perfect' like them. Imperfection not only makes them interesting, it also makes them fun to RP.
- Explain your History. Include everything you can think of, don't skip things to save time. Include details about parents, siblings, where/how they grew up. The more details the better.
3. Start RPing. If you are on a good RP site, there should be absolutely no text talking! Use full sentences and good punctuation and grammar, use the spell check if you need it. Use quotation marks when your character is talking. Here are a few hints to make your posts stronger;
- No one-liners! Just one sentence isn't enough to paint a picture, always remember that a picture is worth a thousand words.
- Use description, describe anything and everything as best as you can. Ask yourself questions about whats going on and answer them fully inside of your posts. If you reread and still have questions then you should use more description.
- Remember, every story has a beginning, a middle, and an end - so does your posts! Each time you post you should answer what happens at the very start, during, and after the actions that took place in the previous post.
TIPS- Rping may seem like hard work, but when you get into it you can have a lot of fun.
- Don't be afraid of adding too many details. The more details, the better off the roleplay will be. But don't add too much detail about things which aren't that important.
- Remember, no one liners. They do nothing to advance the story and most people do not like them.
- There are two ways to RP. One is to talk in third person, the other in first person. Be careful not to mix the different rping styles with each other, or it will lead to a very confusing post.
WARNINGS
- Don't power play; this is when you control someone else's character / making your character invincible.
